First of all, the book signing was amazing. Second, Jammix was also amazing. Look for a post about that in the next couple of weeks.
Thirdly, and the reason for this post, is that Roble Gym is in need of angel donors to help us remove some pillars from the new dance studio space. Check out Richard Power’s explanation:
I have some information on removing the posts from Stanford’s new dance studio, and it might be good news, depending on you. It will cost about $40,000 to remove each of the three posts that are currently in the middle of the studio. The total tab for the remodeling is $25M, so we thought the figure would be in the millions, but now it’s hopefully low enough that one patron saint can say, “I can help.” Last night at Jammix one such donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, offered to pay for one. (Thousands of dance students at Stanford thank you!) Two more posts to go. But we need to know now, before they choose which set of plans to use, with or without metal posts in the middle of the new dance studio. Can anyone help? Do you know anyone (friend, dot-com entrepreneur, parents) who can? Calling all angels…
If you can help, know someone who can, or think you might, PLEASE pass the word along. I’ll be keeping up with developments and we may or may not be starting a kickstarter/indiegogo campaign to try to crowd source removing the other post. That depends a lot on how long we have before they have to know which set of plans to use.
Generations of dance students will be forever grateful if we can pull this off. This includes past generations like me, and future generations. Think of the proto-dancers!
